Assistant Professor of Communication Science

The complexity of engineered systems continues to grow, driven by increasing interaction, communication, and integration between components, subsystems, and modules designed to work together. This trend has led to the creation of large-scale networked systems, which pose novel challenges in science and engineering, particularly in areas such as control, identification, design, diagnostics, and fault isolation. The modular structure and interconnected nature of these systems demand advanced modeling and control tools that leverage their distributed and structured characteristics for effective optimization and performance.
As an Assistant Professor, you will:

Conduct research in the field of networked systems, focusing on distributed control, optimization, and data-driven modelling.
Collaborate in multidisciplinary projects and contribute to applications in electrical network systems and other high-tech domains.
Contribute to TU/e’s educational mission by teaching courses in systems and control and supervising BSc, MSc, and PhD students.
Motivated researcher, with a PhD in the engineering domain (electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or in applied physics) and with sufficient expertise in the systems and control research area.
Shows potential for leadership and team collaboration.
Shows affinity with teaching and willingness to obtain the University Teaching Qualification.
Contract terms
A meaningful job in a dynamic and ambitious university, in an interdisciplinary setting and within an international network. You will work on a beautiful, green campus within walking distance of the central train station. Salary in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. For a junior Assistant Professor this is (scale 11) min. €6,433 gross per month (on a full-time basis).
