Senior Network Engineer

Purpose of the RolepThe Senior Network Engineer reports directly to the Director of IT Infrastructure and is part of the regional IT organisation based at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. The Regional IT team works closely with global infrastructure and support teams to manage and support the rapidly growing business across the region. Operating within multidisciplinary teams provides extensive opportunities to develop both deep technical expertise and broader cross‑functional knowledge across adjacent IT domains. /pbrDe volledige functieomschrijving omvat alle bijbehorende vaardigheden, eerdere ervaring en eventuele kwalificaties die van sollicitanten worden verwacht.brResponsibilitiespManage, support and operate network service delivery globally including (SD)WAN, MAN, LAN networks, switching, routing, wireless and their related security features (SASE) including basic firewalling and access control lists. /pulliManage and operate network services related tickets, incidents, and requests. /liliManage and operate oversight over (co‑sourced) network services. /liliIP address management. /liliNetwork asset management and life cycle management. /liliMaintain and automate network documentation used by the whole IT community. /liliParticipate in network design sessions and innovations under architecture. /liliMaintain and develop network standards, building blocks and deployment automation to facilitate project deliveries. /liliRepresent the network function in various local and abroad IT projects, including negotiating with airport network service providers. /liliDevelop and manage effective professional relationships with external contractors, personnel, co‑workers and suppliers (e.g., airport network teams). /liliEnsure business (network) continuity of the 24 × 7 systems and company processes and demonstrate availability through tooling and reporting. /liliAdhere to and implement security policies as per corporate manuals and directives. /liliCreate/maintain knowledge articles, instructions, manuals and problem‑resolution steps, and support delegation of control and knowledge sharing. /liliParticipate in multidisciplinary teams and actively support controlled self‑reliance of the various teams in the network domain. /liliProactively identify opportunities to improve systems or processes and flag recurring issues. /li /ulKey QualificationsulliIT Higher Technical Education (bachelor degree or equivalent). /liliCisco CCNP or similar active certification. /liliIn‑depth knowledge and minimum 5 years of experience in routing, switching and CISCO ASA firewalls. /liliIn‑depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Visio). /liliStrong functionality and analytical skills; capable of analyzing and troubleshooting complex network problems and requests. /liliProactive, open‑minded, self‑directing behaviour; taking ownership and responsibility for network services. /liliGood verbal and written communication skills in English; Dutch is a plus. /liliTeam‑player mindset; intrinsic motivation to share knowledge with co‑workers. /liliFlexible, proactive mindset combined with high responsibility awareness. /liliPrepared to occasionally work during weekend evenings (no 9‑5 mentality). /liliDue diligence and due care mentality. /li /ulDemonstrable Knowledge and ExperienceulliNetwork switching and routing design, configuration, troubleshooting skills, preferably Cisco based. /liliManaging enterprise‑scale networks. /liliNetwork traffic analysis. /li /ulPreferred ExperienceulliWorking in IT (network) environments controlled by third‑party landlords in airport, train, and shopping mall environments. /liliWorking with outsourcing partners and directing outsourcing partners. /liliNegotiating with suppliers, including financials and terms and conditions (a plus). /liliKnowledge and experience of PCI‑DSS, ISO 27001/2 or NIST‑CSF related frameworks. /liliKnowledge and experience of WAN optimisation, SDWAN and SASE techniques. /liliKnowledge and experience in secure network transport techniques (IPSEC, PKI, TLS). xgiwjmb /liliKnowledge and experience in network patch management and vulnerability management. /li /ulbr
