Control Engineer

Location: North Holland, Netherlands

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Junior Control Engineer to join an engineering team working on the design, programming, testing and commissioning of industrial automation and control systems.

This is a great opportunity for an early-career engineer to build their technical expertise, working alongside experienced engineers on projects across a range of industrial and process environments.

What You'll Be Doing

• Supporting the design and programming of PLC, HMI and SCADA systems
• Assisting with PLC programming and modifications using Siemens TIA Portal and Step 7
• Supporting HMI and SCADA development, including WinCC and InTouch
• Preparing technical documentation, specifications, functional descriptions and test documentation
• Supporting safety systems , including safety relays and safety PLCs
• Working with industrial communication protocols such as Profibus, ProfiNet and Modbus
• Supporting installation, testing, troubleshooting and commissioning activities
• Helping identify and resolve technical issues throughout projects
• Working closely with senior engineers, technicians, clients and wider project teams
• Supporting projects from initial design and programming through to testing and commissioning
• Travelling to project sites, including internationally when required

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline
• 0–3 years' experience in control systems, automation or industrial engineering
• Academic or practical experience with PLC control systems
• Basic knowledge of Siemens PLCs , ideally S7-1200 or S7-1500
• Basic experience with TIA Portal and/or Step 7
• Understanding of HMI and SCADA systems , ideally WinCC
• Basic understanding of Profibus, ProfiNet or Modbus
• Good understanding of electrical/control systems and industrial automation
• Any previous exposure to installation, testing or commissioning would be advantageous
• Experience within food & beverage, personal care or process industries would be beneficial
• Good spoken and written English
• Full driving licence
