Senior Functional Analyst

Location

• Hybrid working model
• 1 day per week on-site in Brussels
• 1 day per week on-site in Ghent
• Approximately 50% remote work

Contract Duration

• Full-time assignment (5 days per week)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Functional Analyst to support the development and optimization of a public-sector data platform and association register environment. The role focuses on functional analysis, API integrations, testing, stakeholder management, and process optimization within an Agile environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, development teams, and data specialists to improve data quality, streamline integrations, and support digital public services.

Responsibilities

Stakeholder Analysis & Requirements

• Analyze business needs and stakeholder expectations.
• Conduct workshops and interviews to gather requirements.
• Translate business requirements into user stories and functional specifications.
• Participate in refinement sessions and support technical feasibility discussions.

Functional Analysis

• Perform functional analysis for new features and enhancements.
• Create and maintain functional documentation.
• Support process optimization initiatives.

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Design and execute:
  • Functional tests
  • API tests
  • Integration tests
• Develop and maintain test scenarios using Postman.
• Document test results and track defects.
• Recommend quality improvements.

Data & Integration

• Support API integrations between systems.
• Assist with data migrations and data quality activities.
• Contribute to data validation and integration initiatives.

Documentation & Release Support

• Maintain project and functional documentation.
• Prepare release notes.
• Support release communication activities.

Reporting & Collaboration

• Produce reports, insights, and trend analyses.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Functional Analyst.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with API integrations.
• Minimum 2 years of experience working with REST APIs.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with Postman.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with functional testing.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in business operations within an ICT environment.
• Experience with business process development and optimization (BPM).
• Experience with functional analysis.
• Experience with stakeholder management.
• Experience with project coordination, planning, estimation, and reporting.
• At least 1 year of experience with VBA in Excel.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Dutch language proficiency at CEFR C2 level.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must demonstrate:

• 3+ years of Functional Analyst experience.
• 5+ years of API integration experience.
• 2+ years of REST API experience.
• 3+ years of Postman experience.
• 3+ years of functional testing experience.
• Minimum 1 year of VBA experience.
• Native-level or C2 Dutch language proficiency.
