Trading Lawyer

EMEA Recruitment has exclusively partnered with an international commodities and trading organization with operations across EMEA. Due to ongoing transformation and growth within the Legal function, they seek an experienced Legal Counsel to join their Amstelveen-based team.

Reporting into the wider international Legal function, the Trading Lawyer will provide legal support across trading and commercial matters relating to metals and commodities activities within the EMEA region.

The role will involve close collaboration with Commercial, Compliance, Operations, and Finance stakeholders, as well as External Counsel, on a broad range of contractual and regulatory matters.

This is a commercially focused position suited to a lawyer with strong experience advising on trading contracts within an international environment.

Key responsibilities of the Polymetcore Trading Lawyer:

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating international trading and commercial agreements
• Providing day-to-day legal support to the trading business across EMEA
• Advising on contractual risk, commercial exposure, and dispute-related matters
• Preparing legal memoranda, notes and legal opinions
• Supporting hardship provisions and contractual interpretation matters
• Advising on compliance and regulatory topics, including:
• Sanctions
• CBAM
• REACH
• Coordinating with external legal advisers where required
• Working closely with internal compliance and wider legal teams on cross-border matters
• Supporting business stakeholders on strategic and operational legal issues

Candidate profile:

• Qualified lawyer with approximately 7–10 years’ post-qualified experience
• Strong background in trading and commercial contracts
• Experience within commodities, metals, natural resources, energy, or international trading environments preferred
• Working knowledge of:
• English law
• Dutch law
• General civil law principles
• Fluent English language skills are essential
