Team Lead - Platform Team

ph3About the role: /h3 pbr/We are looking for a new team lead for one of the teams within our Infra Platform Group. Your mission in this role is to architect and deliver foundational services that empower the product engineering teams building our e-commerce platform.br/ /p pTogether with your team, you will be tackling challenging engineering problems, working on high-performing and scalable services written in Haskell and Rust, while also providing a high-quality developer experience for the teams that use them via Python. /p pbr/Your time will be split approximately 50-50 between leadership tasks and hands-on development. In your leadership role, you are a mentor to your team members, unblocking them when they face challenging roadblocks, and you help them grow both their hard and soft skills. As part of your hands-on work, you are contributing to the architecture and the ongoing development and maintenance of our services. /p pYou will initially be managing a team of four experienced Haskell and Rust engineers, and you will be working closely together with the other teams in the group, the engineering manager of the Infra Platform Group, and the stakeholders from other engineering teams that consume our services.br/If you don't have direct experience with Haskell, but you have solid experience with Rust or Scala and a willingness to learn Haskell, please submit your application, as we are still happy to consider it! /p h3Your responsibilities: /h3 pYour Team Lead tasks will include: /p ul liOrganizing the work and managing priorities /li liCollaborating with the other team leads in the Infra Platform Group on the long-term roadmap /li liMentoring team members, helping them grow and holding half-yearly performance reviews with them /li liSetting up project teams and mentor project leads /li liHiring new team members /li liImplementing and improving upon our processes for the team /li liEstablishing the team culture and fostering a collaborative environment /li /ul pYour Development tasks will include: /p ul liDesigning, developing and testing new features in our services /li liImproving the reliability and robustness of our application /li liWorking on scalability and performance improvements /li liCollaborating with and review PRs of other engineers /li liBreaking down big projects into smaller issues /li liWriting clear and actionable issues /li liDebugging and fixing issues, and teaching team members to do the same /li liWorking together with our product engineering teams and DevOps team on requirements and issues /li /ul h3Who are you? /h3 pYou like working in a dynamic team of skilled engineers, discussing technical decisions openly and collaboratively. It is easy for you to break down big issues into smaller tasks and to prioritize work pragmatically. /p pTo set you up for success in this role, we think you'll benefit from having the following skills and experience: /p ul liYou have previous experience leading an engineering team, or you are an experienced engineer, excited to start your career as a leader. /li liYou can give detailed code reviews both from a high-level and a low-level perspective. /li liYou have the technical depth to help your team members grow and can remove roadblocks for them. /li liYou have substantial backend development experience, you are experienced with functional programming concepts, and are comfortable working with either Haskell, Scala, or Rust.
