You will drive the creation of sophisticated, data‑driven systems designed to preemptively detect and mitigate hardware or software issues. A small fix delivered to many people has a big impact. /li /ul h3Key Responsibilities Objectives /h3 ul liDesigning and developing new features for predictive maintenance for the Android platform to anticipate hardware failures (e.g., battery degradation, storage corruption, overheating), software glitches, or performance bottlenecks. /li liArchitect, implement, and maintain the end‑to‑end stack—from the device kernel (data acquisition) to the cloud (model training/serving) and the Android application (user feedback/alerts). /li liUtilise real‑time device data, advanced analytics, and machine learning models to accurately anticipate potential failures, degradation, or performance bottlenecks before they impact the user experience. /li liTake ownership of both the Android (frontend) components, including user‑facing predictive diagnostics and actionable insights, and the backend infrastructure (microservices) necessary for large‑scale data ingestion, model serving, and continuous learning. /li liClean and manage large datasets for model training. /li liVersion, track, package, and deploy models into a production environment, treating ML models as first‑class citizens in a CI/CD pipeline. /li liUnit and integration testing code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability. /li liBug fixing and improving application performance. /li liCollaborating with cross‑functional teams to define, design, and ship new features. /li liWorking with data sources and APIs. /li liContinuously discovering, evaluating, and implementing new technologies to maximise development efficiency. /li /ul h3Your Skills Experience /h3 ul liProven software development experience in Android front‑end and back‑end development. /li liYou are a programmer and are comfortable with Kotlin. /li liYou know about Compose. /li liDeep knowledge of the Android SDK. /li liExperience with working on Android framework and server‑side technologies with Spring Framework. /li liTheoretical and practical knowledge of Machine Learning algorithms, Deep Learning concepts, and Neural Network Architectures. /li liFamiliarity with major AI/ML Frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch. /li liExperience with Large Language Models (LLMs), including using and integrating APIs, and applying techniques like Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG). /li liYou have experience/knowledge with working in an agile environment. /li liYou have experience/knowledge working with software development tools such as Git, Gerrit, Gitlab and Jenkins. /li liExcellent debugging skills to solve challenging problems. /li liExperience working with remote data via REST, JSON and XML. /li liExperience with third‑party libraries and APIs. /li liA solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle. /li liYou appreciate Free and Open Source software and want to collaborate with the community. /li /ul h3What Fairphone can offer you /h3 ul liThe opportunity to create an impact on the electronics industry around the world. /li liA diverse work environment full of international, passionate, warm‑hearted team members. /li li25 paid holidays per year (based on a full‑time contract) next to the other public holidays in the Netherlands.
