In this role, you will take technical ownership of all electrical and instrumentation aspects across our bioenergy projects and existing assets, with a strong emphasis on electrical power systems, grid integration and installation safety. You will lead the design, standardization, and implementation of EI solutions for facilities converting organic materials into renewable energy, including biogas, biofuels, and heat/power. You will play a key role in shaping engineering strategy, driving technical excellence, and ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance. /p pAs an EI Engineer, you will guide multidisciplinary teams, support strategic decision-making, and act as the go-to expert for EI topics across the VIDA bioenergy organisation. You will report /p pdirectly to the VP Projects Engineering and functionally support project managers and operations teams. /p h3What you’ll do /h3 h3Leadership, Safety Strategy /h3 ul liAct as technical authority for EI discipline across all projects and operating assets /li liDefine and implement EI standards, specifications, and best practices across the organisation /li liEnsure compliance with IEC, NEN, ATEX, CE and grid operator requirements /li liLead EI input in HAZOPs, electrical safety studies, and PSSR reviews /li liDrive safety-by-design principles in electrical installations, especially in hazardous environments /li liIdentify and evaluate innovative electrical and automation technologies (e.g. smart grids, energy storage) /li /ul h3Electrical Engineering (Primary Focus) /h3 ul liLead the design of low- and medium-voltage (LV/MV) systems, including distribution, protection, and grounding /li liOversee development of single line diagrams, load studies, short-circuit calculations, protection coordination, and cable sizing /li liTake ownership of grid connection strategies, such as flexible solutions in alignment with Transmission and Distribution System Operators. /li liSpecify and review key equipment such as transformers, switchgear, generators, CHP units, motors, and VFDs /li liEnsure electrical system integrity, robustness, reliability, maintainability, and scalability across projects /li liOversee specification and integration of field instrumentation (flow, pressure, temperature, gas quality) /li liEnsure alignment between process control philosophy and electrical and instrumentation systems, as well as EI alignment with the architecture and standards for instrumentation and control systems (PLC/SCADA/DCS) /li liSupport advanced control strategies to optimize biogas production, upgrading, and energy output /li liAct as discipline lead during feasibility, FEED, and detailed engineering phases /li liReview and approve technical deliverables, vendor documentation, and engineering packages /li liManage and mentor EI engineers (internal and external) /li liInterface with EPC contractors, vendors, and grid operators /li liOversee installation, FAT/SAT, and commissioning activities from an EI perspective /li liEnsure quality, schedule, and cost adherence for EI scope /li /ul h3Operations Continuous Improvement /h3 ul liSupport operations with complex troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) /li liLead improvements in electrical reliability, uptime, and maintenance strategies /li liAct as escalation point for critical EI issues across assets /li liSupport management of change (MoC) and plant modification initiatives /li liContribute to technical due diligence for MA activities, with focus on electrical infrastructure and automation systems /li /ul h3What we’re looking for /h3 ul liMaster’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or related field /li liMinimum of 10 years of experience in EI engineering in industrial or energy sectors /li liProven experience in a lead or senior engineering role, managing technical scope and teams /li liStrong expertise in: Electrical power systems (LV/MV/HV preferred), Grid integration and energy generation systems /li liFamiliarity with Dutch, UK and EU EI standards and requirements /li liIn-depth knowledge of ATEX and electrical safety in hazardous environments /li liExperience with engineering and analysis tools (e.g. ETAP, EPLAN, AutoCAD) /li liStrong understanding of project stage-gate processes and engineering governance /li liExcellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills /li liStrategic, hands-on, and results-driven mindset /liliWillingness to travel across Europe /li liFluent in English; Dutch required /li /ul h3What we offer /h3 ul liA competitive salary package reflecting your experience and skills. /li liA supportive and inclusive workplace that values your input and development. /li li27 days of paid annual leave. /li liA good pension scheme to secure your future. /li liFlexible working hours to support a healthy work-life balance. /li liDevelopment and training opportunities tailored to your career growth, e.g. into an Innovation Expert, Engineering Management, Project Management or Operations Management role. /li liA vibrant, international work environment where your contributions will make a tangible impact. /li /ul h3About VIDA /h3 pVIDA is at the forefront of the global energy transition, developing sustainable bioenergy solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers and the world.
