Electrical Engineer for Solid-State Protection

About the Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and technically driven Electrical Engineer for Solid-State Protection to join our team with a focus on the development of solid-state protection (SSP) devices for DC distribution grids, power electronics applications, and other electrical infrastructure. This role involves working with concepts such as semiconductor-based switching , selective protection schemes , embedded systems/communication and power electronics/electronic circuit design .

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and analyze solid-state circuit protection architectures using MOSFETs, JFETs, IGBTs, SiC/GaN devices, or hybrid solutions.
• Develop models and simulations (e.g., SPICE, PLECS) to verify protection schemes and failure behavior.
• Design and test high-speed fault detection and interruption systems.
• Define protection coordination logic and collaborate with firmware teams for implementation.
• Evaluate thermal performance, device stress, and long-term reliability under fault conditions.
• Support the development of functional safety, certification (e.g., IEC 60947-10) and EMI compliance strategies.

Qualifications:

Required for All Candidates:

• Experience Level: Open to Mid to Senior-Level Candidates (2–5 years, 5+ years)
• BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
• Experience with high-speed switching circuits and protection concepts.
• Familiarity with power semiconductor devices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, current probes, and lab testing.
• Any previous experience with solid state protection, circuit breakers / switch gear (both AC and DC) is beneficial but not required for the role.
• Any previous experience with power electronics is beneficial but not required for the role.
