Autonomy Software Engineer

ppWe’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Avular Team! /ppAt bAvular /b, we are looking for an ambitious and enthusiasticb senior software engineer /b to strengthen our current team. Here you will work on developing and productizing software components for our modular robotics platforms. In this role, you will make sure that our control and algorithmic engineers can use our products with ROS to create more advanced features. So, you will become the bridge between our hardware and higher-level software engineers or control engineers. /ppAvular designs and builds modular robotics platforms from the ground up. You will build and productise the onboard software for our driving robots, as well as co-develop the architecture it sits in. Your work is what allows our control and algorithm engineers to build higher-level autonomy on top, via ROS. /pulliDesign and build onboard applications in C++, with Python where it fits /liliCo-develop the software architecture — interfaces, structure, and how components fit together /liliDefine and write requirements for new functionality /liliWork close to the hardware, including firmware where the role calls for it /liliBuild the automated tests and documentation that make a feature genuinely done /liliCollaborate directly with hardware, control and algorithm engineers /li /ulpMaster’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Autonomous Systems, Control Engineering, or a related technical field. /ppTypically 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, with relevant experience in, for example: robotics, autonomous systems, motion planning, or navigation. /ppStrong software engineering skills in C++ (C++17 or newer) and practical experience with Python. /ppProfessional experience developing robotic software using ROS2. /ppExperience with graph-based representations and algorithms, such as navigation graphs, vector graphs, graph search, route planning, or related techniques. /ppSolid understanding of robot autonomy, including areas such as localisation, navigation, path planning, trajectory generation, obstacle avoidance, and autonomous behaviour. /ppExperience developing algorithms that operate on real robotic systems, preferably mobile robots, autonomous vehicles, or drones. /ppComfortable developing and debugging software on Linux, including software deployed on ARM-based systems. /ppExperience with CMake, dependency management, and building larger C++ software projects. /ppFamiliarity with Docker and containerised development/deployment. /ppAble to analyse system behaviour using logs, recorded sensor data, ROS bags, and other diagnostic information. /ph3Nice-to-haves: /h3ulliExperience with autonomy for both ground vehicles and aerial robots. /liliExperience with geometric algorithms, computational geometry, mapping, or spatial data structures. /liliExperience with optimisation, trajectory planning, or motion planning libraries. /liliExperience integrating perception, localisation, planning, and control components into a complete robotic system. /liliExperience testing and validating autonomy algorithms on physical robots. /li /ulpAt Avular, work meets play in the best possible way.
